BROOKINGS, S.D. — Northern Iowa’s track and field teams wrapped up a busy weekend with three individual wins and numerous top three finishes at the South Dakota State Indoor Classic.
The Panthers took the top three places in the men’s shotput with Isaac Holtz posting a personal-best 59 feet, 8 1/4 inches to win it. Keegan Tritle (58-9.25) was second and Kyler Yodts third (57-00.75).
UNI also got a victory from Jacob Smith in the 400 with a personal-best run of 47.69 seconds. Jojo Frost was third.
In the 4x400 relay, the group of Sven Van Den Bergh, Smith, Frost and Evan Long ran 3:13.50 for second place, followed by Connor Blough, Bryce Newcomb, Austin Heitland and Jack Butteris in third.
Sarah Pate was runner-up in the women’s weight throw (63-8.75).
Friday, UNI got a win from Tiffany Christensen in the 3,000 (9:53.29), runner-up finishes from Smith in the men’s 200 (21.73) and Kassidy Sharp in the women’s high jump (5-6 1/2) and a third from McKayla Cole in the 3,000 (9:55.37).
