COLUMBIA, Mo. — Northern Iowa enjoyed a strong performance Saturday at the University of Missouri’s Tom Botts Invitational with several top finishes and personal-bests.
After a stellar Friday performance that included Hannah Truniger’s school record in the 5,000 (16:52.67), Brandon Carnes got it going for the Panthers Saturday with victories in the 100 (10.17) and 200 (20.44).
Lindsey Kite took second in the 800 (2:10.42) with Lyndsie Schinkel right behind at 2:10.52. Both marks rank among the top three in the Missouri Valley Conference this season.
In the 1,500, Schinkel posted a third-place finish (4:30.85), as did Luke Johnston on the men’s side (3:51.10).
Overall, UNI finished third in the women’s standings with 121 points. Missouri was the team champion with 153 and Nebraska was second (125). In the men’s team standings, Nebraska won with 157 points while the Panthers were second with 141.
