CEDAR FALLS, Iowa --- Bethany Olson won both diving events, but the University of Northern Iowa dropped a women's dual swimming meet to South Dakota State, 189-105.
Olson finished with 262.42 points in the 1-meter and 246.52 in the 3-meter.
Caryn Knight won the 100 breaststroke in 1:08.59, while the Panthers capped the meet with a victory in the 200 freestyle relay where MacKenzie Smith, Jaime Pearson, Rebecca Ortmann and Elise Drewen clocked 1:40.67 for a narrow win.
Several UNI swimmers were runners-up in their respective events. Chelsea Hartman was second in both the 1,000 freestyle (10:36.31) and the 500 freestyle (5:19.34). Smith was second in the 50 freestyle (25.35) and 100 freestyle (54.75), and Pearson took second in the 100 backstroke (1:01.86) and 100 butterfly (1:01.36). In addition, Natalie Johnson was second in the 200 backstroke (2:15.17).
The Panthers return to competition Dec. 2-4 at the three-day Omaha Invitational.
