NORMAL, Ill. — Northern Iowa piled up the event wins Saturday and handed Western Illinois a 187-102 women’s dual swimming and diving defeat.
UNI got wins from Anika Lillegard-Bouton in the 1,000 freestyle (11:08.65), Kylie Engstrom in the 200 freestyle (1:58.88), Crystal Florman in the 100 backstroke (1:01.77), Molly Lembezeder in the 50 freestyle (24.41) and 100 freestyle (52.80, Jayden Lovell in 1-meter diving (237.23), Kelsey Ostrowski in the 200 backstroke (2:09.03), Moriah Ross in the 200 breaststroke (2:25.31), Rachel Siebenaller in the 500 freestyle (5:16.84), Katie Taylor in the 100 butterfly (59.75), Mary Ferlmann in 3-meter diving (224.55) and the 200 freestyle relay of Lauren Kacmarynski, Florman, Olivia Knowles and Natalie Nelson (1:42.61).
Friday night, UNI had plenty of highlights, but settled for a 150-150 tie in a Missouri Valley Conference meet at Illinois State.
Taylor was a triple winner for UNI, taking the 100 backstroke (59.47), the 200 backstroke (2:02.48) and the 200 individual medley (2:07.62). Lembezeder won the 100 freestyle (52.95), Florman took the 50 freestyle (24.21), and Engstrom won the 500 freestyle (5:12.11).
In relay action, the Panthers won the 400 medley with the team of Taylor, Ross, Florman and Lembezeder (3:51.88) and the 200 freestyle relay with Florman, Lembezeder, Siebenaller and Kacmarynski (1:36.90).
