IOWA CITY — Northern Iowa set a Missouri Valley Conference record in the 200 freestyle relay and also got a win from Molly Lembezeder on day two of the MVC swimming and diving championships at the University of Iowa pool.

The Panther quartet of Lembezeder, Crystal Florman, Autumn Roepsch and Aftin Phyfe clocked 1:32.04 in the 200 relay to break the old mark of 1:33.06. UNI needed that performance to beat Missouri State, which also broke the old mark.

Lembezeder claimed the conference championship in the 50 freestyle in 22.81 while Florman took fifth. Katie Taylor was runner-up in the 200 individual medley. She broke the old MVC record of 2:01.41, but so did winner Lauren Pavel of Missouri State (1:59.89).

Jordan McCullough added a seventh in the 500 freestyle for UNI and Hannah Brummel took third in 1-meter diving with a score of 229.55. Alyssa Deuso was fifth at 221.70.

In the team standings, the Panthers are in third place just two points behind second-place Southern Illinois with two days to go. Missouri State leads by 61 1/2 points.
