CEDAR FALLS — Northern Iowa followed up a 2-0 opening day with two more wins Saturday in the season-opening UNI-Dome Classic softball tournament.

Freshman Emma Olejniczak made a successful college debut with five innings of shutout pitching as UNI began the day with an 8-0 victory over Southeast Missouri State.

The Panthers backed Olejniczak’s three-hit effort with 12 hits. Sammey Bunch, Kennedy Bailey, Brittany Krodinger and Claire Dudek each had two hits, and Bunch drove home three runs.

UNI then defeated South Dakota State 5-2. The Jackrabbits nicked Panther ace Jaclyn Spencer for a pair of first-inning runs, but that was all they got.

Sammey Bunch doubled and homered for UNI and Tiana Drahn had two hits and two RBIs.

UNI wraps up the tournament Sunday with a 4:15 p.m. game against Missouri-Kansas City.
