DES MOINES — Northern Iowa got shutout pitching from Jaclyn Spencer and Alyssa Buchanan and pinned a pair of Missouri Valley Conference softball losses on Drake Tuesday, 3-0 and 12-0.

Spencer fired a five-hit shutout in the opener for her 11th win of the season. Brittney Roby, Macey Wolfe and Bailey Lange knocked in runs for the Panthers, who scored twice in the third and once in the top of the seventh.

Game two was following a similar script with UNI picking up single runs in the first, fourth and fifth before erupting for nine in the sixth inning. Buchanan allowed just four hits and improved to 9-1, while also going 3-for-4 at the plate with five RBIs. Macey Wolfe knocked in three runs and had two hits, as did Sammey Bunch and Tianna Drah.

Now 25-15 overall and 13-4 in the MVC, UNI plays at Loyola Saturday and Sunday. Drake fell to 20-24 and 3-14.
