DEKALB, Ill. -- Northern Iowa saw a 2-0 lead vanish, but the Panthers regrouped and got a late goal from Sarah Brandt to defeat Northern Illinois 3-2 in women's college soccer Friday.
Johnnie Hill turned a Hannah McDevitt assist into a goal in the 32nd minute, and Brandt connected on a shot from outside the box in the 43rd minute to give the Panthers (7-1) their two-goal lead.
However, the Huskies (3-3-1) got on the scoreboard just before halftime to make it 2-1, then pulled even in the 76th minute.
Brandt's game-winner, her team-leading fifth goal of the season, came off a header with an assist from Sydney Hayden.
UNI finished with a 14-8 advantage in shots and a 7-3 edge in shots on goal.
The Panthers return home to the Cedar Valley Soccer Complex to host North Dakota at 1 p.m. Sunday in their final non-conference matchup.
