CHICAGO — Loyola knocked Northern Iowa’s women’s soccer team out of a share of second place in the Missouri Valley Conference with a 3-2 victory Saturday.
It was the most goals the Panthers have surrendered in a game this season.
Loyola jumped in front 2-0 just 10 minutes, 39 seconds into the game. Sydney Hayden got UNI on the board at the 12:33 mark with her fourth goal of the season.
The Panthers had nine first-half shots with five of them on net, but Ramblers senior goalkeeper Maddie Ford protected the one-goal advantage.
Loyola (12-5-0, 4-2-0) regained its two-goal advantage less than three minutes into the second half and although Jenny Wick got UNI (11-4-1, 3-3-0) back within a goal, the Panthers couldn’t get the equalizer. Kelsey Yarrow and Hannah McDevitt assisted on Wick’s goal, her third of the season.
UNI wraps up its regular season Thursday when it hosts Indiana State at 4 p.m. at the Cedar Valley Soccer Complex.
