CAPE GIRARDEAU Mo. — Shooting 14 shots worse than day one, Northern Iowa dropped into a third-place tie on the second day of the Missouri Valley Conference women’s golf championships Monday.
The Panthers, who were alone in third entering the day, fell into a tie with Bradley after shooting a 324. Both teams are at 634 for the tournament.
Despite shooting three shots worse than on Sunday’s opening round, Wichita State leapfrogged the Panthers and Braves into second place with a 629. The Shockers are 13 shots behind leaders Missouri State heading into today’s final round.
Leading the charge for UNI was Allison Rollinger, who shot a 77 Monday for a two-day total of 153. Rollinger is currently in seventh-place individually.
Other scorers for the Panthers are Maddie Bertsch (tied for 9th, 155), Paige VanDyk (14th, 157), Sarah McMichael (tied for 39th, 169) and Jenna Snyder (50th, 182).
On top of the individual leaderboard is Evansville’s Kayla Katterhenry, whose score of 144 is two strokes better than current runner-up Marissa Uradomo of Indiana State.
Evansville, which is currently in ninth place, was the only team to have a better score on day two (322) than day one (330).
The final round begins this morning at 8 a.m.
