Northern Iowa senior Allison Rolinger is an honorable mention selection for the Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete team.

Rolinger led the Panthers in stroke average (78.32) last season and finished eighth at the MVC Championships. In the classroom, she owns a 3.69 grade-point average.


The Waterloo Columbus high school baseball team has kicked off its annual Adrenaline Fundraiser to raise money for its 2017 season.

Cedar Falls soccer standout Sarah Swiatly has signed a letter of intent to compete for Hawkeye Community College next season.

Swiatly is a multi-sport athlete and honor roll student who has been a valuable defender for the Tigers the past three seasons.


Hawkeye Community College sports shooting coach Kevin Boldt has announced his retirement effective at the end of the 2017 season.

Boldt, a 27-year veteran of the Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Department before his retirement from that position in 2014, helped get the Hawkeye shooting sports program started.

Under Boldt’s direction, the RedTails placed third at the SCTP National Championships and fifth at the ACUI National Championships.
