NORWALK — The University of Northern Iowa women’s golf team finished in a tie for second Tuesday when the final round of Drake’s Bulldog Invitational was rained out.

Loyola was the team champion at 629 with UNI and Western Illinois five shots back at 634. Sarah McMichael led the Panthers with rounds of 79 and 76 for a 155 that tied for third individually two strokes behind medalist Jessie Staed of Loyola. UNI’s Sydney Eaton tied for sixth at 157 (79-78) with Hannah Bermel and Paige VanDyk tied for 15th at 161.

At Milburn Golf and Country Club in Overland Park, Kan., the UNI men’s team finished in a tie for 11th place at the Bill Ross Intercollegiate meet hosted by Missouri-Kansas City.

The Panthers had a 918 total in a meet won by Grand Canyon with 871. UNI’s Sam DeBartolo tied for sixth at 219 (73-72-74) and Marshal Lamb shared 43rd place at 228 (79-72-77). Vinnie Murphy of Grand Canyon took medalist honors with rounds of 71, 70 and 70 for a 211 total.
