CEDAR FALLS — University of Northern Iowa head football coach Mark Farley announced the hiring of Ryan Clanton as the Panthers’ new offensive line coach Tuesday.

Clanton has spent the past four seasons at Ventura College in California serving as offensive coordinator and run game coordinator while coaching the offensive linemen.

Ventura’s offense set school records in total offense, passing yards and passing touchdowns under Clanton’s guidance and 19 of his 20 offensive linemen earned all-conference honors, including four All-Americans.

Prior to Ventura College, Clanton coached the offensive and defensive lines at his high school alma mater, Bakersfield Christian.

Clanton played college football first at City College of San Francisco, where he earned junior college All-American honors, and then at Oregon under Chip Kelly where he was a captain his senior season. He worked out with the NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Green Bay Packers before moving into a coaching career.
