CEDAR FALLS — A pair of University of Northern Iowa players who made significant impacts in their first seasons have been named to the Missouri Valley Football Conference All-Newcomer team.
Keelon Brookins, a senior linebacker, and freshman receiver Isaiah Weston represent the Panthers, who play in the second round of the FCS playoffs Saturday at South Dakota State. Brookins transferred to UNI from Wisconsin and has started the past seven games.
The St. Paul, Minn., native has 28 tackles, three sacks, four pass break-ups and two interceptions.
Weston, from Albertville, Minn., has 22 receptions for 380 yards and five touchdowns.
North Dakota State linebacker Jabril Cox swept the league’s Freshman and Newcomer of the Year awards.
