SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Northern Iowa couldn’t catch favorite Bradley Saturday as the Panther women finished second at the Missouri Valley Conference cross country championships.
The Braves posted a team score of 30 with all five runners among the top 10. UNI finished with 56 points and had six runners among the top 25.
Loyola’s Lindsey Brewis was the individual champion in 17:07.76. UNI’s Tiffany Christensen was ninth (17:47.46) , McKayla Cole 10th, Ashley Norem 11th, Hannah Truniger 12th and Brette Correy 14th. Cole was named MVC Freshman of the Year.
In the men’s race, Bradley edged Indiana State on a tiebreaker for the team title, led by Jake Hoffert’s individual championship in 24:37.87. UNI placed seventh.
C.J. May led the Panthers with a 22nd-place effort in 25:52.9. Alex Jackson was 28th, Mitchell Pritts 33rd, Ethan Smith 38th and Ben Ahlrichs 40th.
