SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Ashley Norem set the pace for the third straight meet to lead the University of Northern Iowa women’s cross country team to a strong, fifth-place finish at the 28-team Notre Dame Joe Piane Invitational.
Norem ran 17:40.00 for a new personal best in the 5K and placed 17th overall. Kelsey Kirchoff also cracked the Top 25, crossing in 23rd place in 17:44.10. Brette Correy was 26th in 17:45.50.
UNI, ranked 15th in the Midwest Region, finished with 200 points in the team standings. Bradley won the meet with 103.
In the men’s race, UNI was 14th among 24 teams. The Panthers finished with a team score of 357, while winner Utah Valley had 114. Top finisher for UNI was Bailey Wetherell in 42nd place (25:32.80).
