- Tripoli standout Brooke Dreesman has signed to play volleyball for the Hawkeye Community College team that will begin play in 2018.
Dreesman had 418 career kills, 174 digs and 157 blocks while serving at 85 percent during her high school career.
- Longtime Luther College athlete, coach and teacher Paul Solberg died Tuesday at the age of 79.
Solberg was a track and football standout for the Norse, then later returned and coached track, wrestling, baseball and tennis before becoming athletics director. His wrestling teams won three Iowa Conference championships and produced three national champions.
Solberg was named IIAC Coach of the Year seven times -- once in tennis, three times in baseball and three times in wrestling. He was also the Region V Coach of the Year in baseball and is a member of the Luther and NWCA halls of fame.
