AMES — Grace Lazard tied a career-high with 14 kills and Jess Schaben had a double-double of 14 kills and 11 digs to power Iowa State to a sweep of Princeton in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament Friday.
Set scores were 25-21, 25-17, 25-14, and the Cyclones (22-6) advanced to face Wisconsin Saturday.
Lazard hit at a .522 hitting percentage, while Monique Harris got her 12th double-double of the season with 35 assists and a match-high 16 digs.
Iowa State used an 8-1 run to build a lead and hit .350 in the opening set. Princeton took a 12-0 lead in the second set before the Cyclones erupted on a 12-2 run to win it. Iowa State finished the sweep with a dominating third set in which it hit .452.
