The first annual Panther Caravan has announced a five-day, seven-stop tour in May.
Fans are invited to join University of Northern Iowa coaches and administrators to talk Panther athletics and enjoy food and other activities.
The tour begins May 11 at Dubuque’s Grand River Center at 5:30 p.m. On May 12, stops are at Quad Cities area elementary schools at 11 a.m. and at the Cedar Rapids Marriott at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, May 18, the caravan visits Des Moines at the Iowa Hall of Pricde at 5:30 p.m.
On Friday, May 19, the Other Place in Clear Lake will host the caravan at 11:30 a.m., before it turns north to Como Park Zoo in Minneapolis for a 5:30 p.m. stop.
The final stop is May 25 at 5:30 p.m. at Waterloo’s Center for the Arts. Guests for the Waterloo visit are expected to include director of athletics David Harris, volleyball coach Bobbi Petersen, women’s basketball coach Tanya Warren, men’s basketball coach Ben Jacobson, football coach Mark Farley and wrestling coach Doug Schwab.
Hawkeye Community College is offering an All-Sports Camp for kids ages 6-12 and a pair of shooting clinics for high school students interested in shooting sports.
The All-Sports Camp is June 12-15 at the Cedar Valley SportsPlex in Waterloo and includes instruction in soccer, track, golf and swimming. The shooting clinics are May 27 and June 24 at the Izaak Walton League clubhouse in Washburn. RedTails head coach Kevin Boldt will work with participants to improve their shooting skills.

Two University of Northern Iowa softball players were honored Monday by the Missouri Valley Conference.
Senior pitcher Alyssa Buchanan was named Pitcher of the Week and freshman shortstop Sammey Bunch earned Newcomer of the Week honors.
Buchanan made pitching appearances against Drake, Iowa State and Wichita State during the week, going 2-0 with a pair of complete-game victories. She pitched 14 2/3 innings with 17 strikeouts and a 1.43 earned-run average while also going 6-for-9 with a double and two RBIs at the plate.
Bunch hit .462 over the four-game stretch with two home runs, a triple, two doubles and eight RBIs. She homered in both games of a Saturday sweep over league rival Wichita State, including a grand slam.
The Cedar Valley Push-Up Brawlers will host Old Capitol City Roller Derby of Iowa City Saturday at the Five Sullivan Brothers Convention Center in Waterloo.
Tickets are available in advance at Mohair Pear, Waterloo Bicycle Works and Cedar Valley Chiropractic for $8. Cost at the door Saturday is $10.
