Softball

  • Northern Iowa and Iowa State have tentatively rescheduled their rained out softball game for Wednesday, April 26 at 4 p.m. in Ames.

The date is tentative because UNI plays Drake April 25 and should that game be postponed, it would take priority as a Missouri Valley Conference matchup and would then be played April 26. If that occurs, the UNI-Iowa State game will be moved to April 27.

Track and field

  • Northern Iowa senior sprinter Brandon Carnes was named Missouri Valley Conference Male Athlete of the Week Tuesday.

Carnes won the 100 and 200 at Missouri's Tom Botts Invitational. His wind-aided 10.17 in the 100 matched his UNI and MVC record while he ran 20.44 in the 200. It's the second time Carnes has earned the honor this outdoor season.

Gymnastics

  • Moser School of Dance and Gymnastics will present its annual Independence area dance and gymnastics showcase Sunday, April 30 at the Independence High School gym.

Beginning at 6:30 p.m., Moser students ages 3 through 18 will be performing a variety of dance and gymnastic routines during a 90-minute show.

Registration is also open for fall classes and summer clinics. For more information, email cpayne@windstream.net or dmoser@iowatelecom.net.

Wrestling

  • Three University of Northern Iowa wrestlers have earned spots on the National Wrestling Coaches Association All-Academic team.

Max Thomsen, Bryce Steiert and Dylan Peters  are among the 135 student-athletes honored. Thomsen is one of 35 All-Americans on the squad.
