Former Northern Iowa pitcher Nic Ungs has been named the University of Iowa baseball program’s director of baseball operations, head coach Rick Heller announced Monday. He joins the staff after nine years with the Georgia Bombers Baseball Club in Atlanta.
The Dyersville native played professionally for 11 years after being selected by the Florida Marlins in the 12th round of the 2001 MLB draft.
A 2001 UNI graduate, Ungs was inducted into the school’s Athletics Hall of Game in 2015.
The University of Northern Iowa Football team is selling a three-game mini-pack and 10-game online flex pass for the 2017 season.
The three-game, $75 mini-pack includes the Sept. 9 home opener against Cal Pol, homecoming against Western Illinois on Oct. 7 and regular season finale against Indiana State on Nov. 18. It can only be redeemed in non-donor sections.
The 10-game flex pass for east side tickets can be purchased for $160, which allows you to get 10 tickets to use to any regular season home game. The 10-game option can be mixed-and-matched over any of this season’s five home games and is also only redeemable in non-donor sections.
