UNIVERSITY PARK, Md. — Top-ranked Penn State dominated after intermission and tagged Iowa with a 28-13 Big Ten wrestling defeat Saturday night.

Spencer Lee got the Hawkeyes (11-3, 6-3) off to a 6-0 lead with a pin at 125 pounds. Penn State (13-0, 9-0) then reeled off three straight decisions, including top-ranked Zain Retherford’s 6-2 victory over No. 2 Brandon Sorensen, to lead 9-6.

Michael Kemerer, ranked second at 157, gave the lead back to Iowa and improved to 19-0 with a 14-4 major that made it 10-9 at the intermission.

The Hawkeyes got a big win from Alex Marinelli (13-0), who edged top-ranked and previously unbeaten Vincenzo Joseph 9-6 at 165 pounds, but the Nittany Lions took the lead back at 174 on a pin by second-ranked Mark Hall (23-0).

Bo Nickel, ranked No. 1 at 184, made quick work of Mitchell Bowman with a pin that made it 21-13, and Penn State put the win away with Shakur Rasheed’s 11-2 major decision at 197.
