GENEVA, Ohio — Wartburg College senior Courtney Sowle earned All-America status with her seventh-place finish in the women’s heptathlon at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Sowle broke her own school record with 4,580 points and became the Knights’ first heptathlon All-American. She posted a long jump of 16 feet, 4 1/2 inches, threw the javelin 109 feet, 4 inches and clocked a 2:26.70 in the 800-meter run.
In other action Friday, Sam Holtz finished 15th in the shot put with a mark of 43-9 3/4. Sowle competed in the 100 hurdle prelims and Taylor Officer ran the 800, but neither advanced to the finals.
