A: There’s no relation. According to Turpin, her maiden name is Powell, and she was raised in the Columbus, Ohio, area. The Turpin family she married into is from Nebraska.

Q: In your story about Chairman of the House Chip Baltimore’s OWI you listed that Rep. Kelly Burt, D-Waterloo also previously received an OWI. Didn’t you mean Kerry Burt?

A: Yes. It was corrected online.

Q: Who makes the decision for late arrivals and early dismissals for Waterloo Schools?

A: The superintendent.

Q: How far behind schedule is the North Cedar Elementary project in Cedar Falls?

A: Weather and unforeseen issues have slowed construction progress at the North Cedar Elementary School addition and remodeling project, said Jared Krull, a project manager with Cardinal Construction. However, the first phase of the project is on track to be completed prior to the start of the 2018-19 school year.
