A: In 1924, W.P. Kearns moved to Waterloo and established the funeral home at Commercial and West Third. His wife, Sylvia, also was a licensed funeral director. Their son Robert L. Kearns joined the firm and was active there until his death in 1985. Robert’s wife, Eleanor, recently died.
