Q: Is it safe to store or freeze foods in the plastic containers we get cottage cheese, yogurt, cool whip etc. in? Are there certain numbered containers recommended not to be re-used?

A: According to ISU Extension & Outreach, containers with recycling codes of 2, 4 or 5 can be safely reused. Most yogurt and margarine tubs are made from plastic 5 — so yes, it is safe to store foods in these. But these containers won’t keep your frozen foods safe from freezer burn or frost for very long. Watch that these containers are not used for reheating to avoid warping them.

Q: Can you print some information on Les Feldick and his ministry?

A: Feldick, who grew up in Iowa, has lived on Oklahoma for many years and describes himself as a rancher. Now 90, he began teaching nondenominational Bible classes more than 30 years ago. Recordings of his classes are sometimes shown on television, or you can buy or listen to recordings for free at www.lesfeldick.org.

Q: What does post-traumatic stress disorder mean?

A: Here’s how the Mayo Clinic explains it: “Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a mental health condition that’s triggered by a terrifying event — either experiencing it or witnessing it. Symptoms may include flashbacks, nightmares and severe anxiety, as well as uncontrollable thoughts about the event. Most people who go through traumatic events may have temporary difficulty adjusting and coping, but with time and good self-care, they usually get better. If the symptoms get worse, last for months or even years and interfere with your day-to-day functioning, you may have PTSD. Getting effective treatment after PTSD symptoms develop can be critical to reduce symptoms and improve function.”
