ERROL BROWN

WATERLOO -- As an 80-year resident of Waterloo, I am pleased to write in support of Margaret Klein for the Waterloo City Council. I have watched with disgust as partisanship has taken over our nation’s capital and even our Statehouse, driving a wedge between so many friends, co-workers and families. In the last several years that same level of partisan politics has arrived right here in our own backyard.

Margaret Klein will bring a much-needed independent voice to our local government. She is compassionate, hardworking and committed to making Waterloo a better city for all. She is an outsider who owes no favors to political or corporate special interests. A mother of seven and grandmother to 23, Margaret understands the importance of creating a community that is safe, family friendly and economically competitive.

As a retired accountant, I am especially pleased to hear Margaret campaign on lowering taxes. The numbers speak for themselves: Waterloo continues to have a much higher tax rate than other cities our size. We can do better, and I believe with Councilwoman Klein we WILL do better.

Please elect Margaret Klein on Nov. 7.
