WATERLOO - A snowplow driver has been cited in a crash that sent a Denver woman to the hospital Tuesday morning.
Waterloo police cited Dean Nicholson, 55, of Cedar Falls, for a stop sign violation, according to the accident report. Nicholson was driving a Black Hawk County road grader that was plowing snow.
Paramedics with Waterloo Fire Rescue took the other driver, Tamara Stocks, 32, to Allen Hospital where she was listed in serious condition with broken bones and possible internal injuries, according to the accident report.
It wasn't determined if she was wearing a seat belt.
The accident happened about 7:15 a.m.
The grader was heading east on Big Rock Road when it came to the stop sign at U.S. Highway 63. The grader driver wasn't able to see traffic coming from the north because of piled-up snow and was inching out into the intersection, according to the accident report.
Stocks, who was southbound on Highway 63 in a Pontiac Grand Am, hit with the side of the front plow blade, the report states.
