CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — A Waverly woman was arrested for child endangerment after videotaping her teenage brother covering himself with cologne and lighting it on fire, then posting the video on Facebook.
Cedar Falls Police arrested Amanda Jo Erks, 21, for child endangerment for the incident, which police had learned about April 16.
According to court records, the Facebook video showed Erks’ 15-year-old brother spraying himself with cologne and then lighting himself on fire. The video also shows Erks’ 1-year-old daughter in a crib about 5 or 6 feet away from the brother during the incident.
In the video, Erks says “please don’t try this at home, we are professionals, we’ve been doing this forever.” Police did not report any injuries suffered in the incident.
The video was filmed in a mobile home in the 2500 block of Union Road.
The child endangerment charge is an aggravated misdemeanor.
According to police, Erks admitted that she filmed the incident.
