OELWEIN, Iowa --- Fayette Country authorities say charges are pending against a 14-year-old Oelwein girl whose car crashed, injuring three others who were riding on top of it.

The Fayette County Sheriff's Office reports the crash happened about 12:35 a.m. Thursday on 50th Street near R Avenue, north of Oelwein.

Investigators say three teens, two of them age 15 and the other age 12, were car surfing. The driver, identified as Hannah M. Guyer, 14, lost control at a high rate of speed. The car, a 1999 Ford Escort, went into a ditch and rolled over, throwing off three passengers who were riding on top of the vehicle. A fifth 14-year-old passenger was also in the vehicle.

The driver and passengers, all from Oelwein, were taken to Mercy Hospital in Oelwein.
