WATERLOO, Iowa --- MidAmerican Energy reported more than 700 were without power early Monday.

The area impacted some major intersections overnight. The outage was reported shortly after 2 a.m.

By 4 a.m., the outage was down to 28.

Waterloo police reported major intersections at Falls and University avenues, Highway 63 and University and other intersections were dark due to the outage. A police officer was stationed at Falls and University about 2:40 a.m. Police said stop signs were being brought out for those intersections until the outage was over.

Tina Potthoff, spokeswoman for MidAmerican Energy, said 711 are impacted by the outage. Crews are still out trying to determine the cause.

She said some of the areas affected include the 200 block of Oaklawn Avenue, the 300 block of Westfield Avenue and the 3000 block of University Avenue.
