CEDAR FALLS, Iowa --- Cedar Falls police have made an arrest for a burglary that occurred at the McDonalds Restaurant at 610 W. First St. in Cedar Falls on Sunday, in which a suspect apparently cooked himself a meal there.

A male turned himself into the Cedar Falls Police Department after seeing media coverage of the crime on Tuesday.

Whitley Allen Teslow, 21, of Waverly was arrested Tuesday and charged with one count each of third-degree burglary, fourth-degree criminal mischief and fifth-degree theft. Police identified him as a Wartburg College student.

McDonald's workers arrived at 4:20 a.m. Sunday to find the glass in the drive-up window broken, and it appeared food had been cooked in the restaurant.

Security footage showed the man first tapped on the glass at the window.

No one was in the store, so he broke the glass and climbed inside.

The restaurant, at 610 W. First St., closed at midnight.

Police had made reference to the animated character "the Hamburglar" from McDonald's commercials in a press release.
