SHEFFIELD | Two people were injured in a four-vehicle accident near the Sheffield exit on Interstate 35 around 12:20 p.m. Saturday.

Casie May Beck, 27, and Daniel Jason Beck, 25, both of West Des Moines, were taken to Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa, Mason City, by Sheffield ambulance. Both were wearing their seat belts, according to the Iowa State Patrol.

Daniel Beck was treated and released, and the hospital didn't have any information on Casie Beck, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

Daniel Beck was southbound on Interstate 35 in a Ford Escape along with Javier Antonio Vasques, 19, Britt, in a Dodge Durango; Jeanne Marie Frank, 75, Greene, in a Winnebago camper, and Francisco Mendoza Jr., 40, Weslaco, Texas, in a semitrailer, when they all came upon another accident, according to the accident report.

Vasques and Frank both took evasive actions to avoid the crash. Beck's vehicle then struck Frank's vehicle. Mendoza's semitrailer entered the median striking the rear bumper of Vasques' vehicle. The semitrailer continued across the northbound lanes coming to rest facing south in the northbound lane. Vasques, Frank and Beck's vehicles all came to rest in the median, according to the accident report.

No one else was injured in the accident.
