CEDAR FALLS — Karen Lee Bolger, 71, of Cedar Falls, died Saturday, Oct. 7, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo.
She was born Sept. 17, 1946, in Cedar Rapids, daughter of Irwin L. and Marjorie E. (Greer) Nelson. Karen married James L. Bolger on Aug. 17, 1968, in Cedar Falls. She was a graduate of Cedar Rapids Washington High School and the University of Northern Iowa. Karen was a physical education teacher at Peet Jr. High School in Cedar Falls for 44 years, retiring in 2012.
Survived by: her husband; two sons, JB (Malorie Klunenberg) Bolger and Justin (Kaitlyn) Bolger, both of Waterloo; two grandchildren, Blaike and Berkley Rae Bolger; her sister, Sandee (Lawrence) Camacho, of Prescott, Ariz.; her niece, LauraBeth Camacho, of Honolulu, Hawaii; her aunt, Jean Murray and her uncle, Weir Nelson, both of Cedar Rapids; a brother-in-law, Richard L. Bolger, of Arvada, Colo., and a sister-in-law, Susan J. Bolger, of Cedar Falls.
Preceded in death by: her parents and a brother, Phil Nelson.
Services: will be private; visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, with burial at Fairview Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls.
