ROCKWELL, Iowa --- A Sheffield woman is facing four felony charges stemming from an April car accident in Cerro Gordo County that seriously injured a young passenger.
Robin D. Jenks, 39, Sheffield, was charged Monday night with homicide or serious injury by vehicle related to injuries to 5-year-old Jaylan Brown, Sheffield, in the single-car accident.
The charge is a Class D felony.
Jenks also was charged with three counts of child endangerment, operating a motor vehicle while under the influence, failure to have a valid license, failure to maintain control and having an open container.
The charges stemmed from an April 27 accident. Jenks, driving a 1994 Honda Accord, lost control of the vehicle on the 3700 block of Partridge Avenue, deputies said.
Five people including three children were injured in the accident. All those injured except for Brown were treated and released. Brown was transported to St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. A hospital spokesman said Monday evening that Brown had been released.
Jenks is being held in the Cerro Gordo County Jail under $10,000 cash/surety bond.
She was booked into the jail at 7:30 p.m. Monday.
The investigation is ongoing, according to Sheriff Kevin Pals.
