Luther among top Cool Schools
DECORAH -- Luther College was named one of the Sierra Club's Cool Schools.
For 2017, Luther holds the highest ranking for Iowa Private Colleges and is one of only a few ELCA schools recognized on the list.
The national assessment pulls data from a program run by the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education.
Luther's efforts were reported by the college's Center for Sustainable Communities, which coordinates sustainability initiatives at Luther.
Two-wheel trama class set
FAYETTE -- ABATE OF IOWA-D23 will have a "Two Wheel" trauma class for emergency medical providers from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 7 at Upper Iowa University.
The program is designed to help medical responders deal quickly with injured riders of bicycles, motorcycles, ATVs, mopeds, snowmobiles and other vehicles of similar design.

NICC food help for students
CALMAR -- Northeast Iowa Community College has received a grant sub-award in partnership with Kirkwood Community College that will provide more financial assistance for low-income eligible students through the Iowa Department of Human Services Food Assistance Employment and Training program.
NICC was selected as a community college partner for the grant sub-award in part because of the college’s 5,000-square mile, eight-county service area.
