Preparedness Fair set at Crossroads

WATERLOO, Iowa --- The Black Hawk County Emergency Management Agency in conjunction with Crossroads Shopping Center is hosting a Preparedness Fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in front of J.C. Penney. The event is being held in conjunction with Severe Weather Awareness Week March 25-28.

Individuals and families will receive disaster preparedness information on Black Hawk alerts, community emergency response teams, pet safety and other important safety information.

Waterloo Police will be fingerprinting children and encourage parents to fingerprint children as early as possible and keep this information available in case of emergencies.

Other agencies providing information are Northeast Iowa Food Bank, Hawkeye Valley Area Agency on Aging, Black Hawk County Health Department, Safeguard Iowa Partnership, Operation Threshold, Cedar Valley Humane Society and American Red Cross.

Black Hawk County Emergency Management will program weather radios for people who bring them to the event.
