OSAGE, Iowa --- The trial for 14-year-old Noah Crooks of Osage will move to Wright County District Court in Clarion and is scheduled to begin April 30.

The boy's defense attorneys, citing negative pretrial publicity, requested a change of venue late last year.

Crooks is accused of murdering his mother, Gretchen, in March 2012. A criminal complaint alleges Crooks shot her with a rifle in the family's rural home.

Authorities also charged Crooks with first-degree assault with intent to commit sexual abuse.

He is being held in the North Central Juvenile Detention Facility in Waterloo.
