REINBECK — Marie Martens, 98, of Reinbeck, died Wednesday, Oct. 4, at Parkview Nursing Home in Reinbeck of natural causes.
She was born Aug. 29, 1919, on a farm in Marshall County, daughter of George and Bertha Thaden Delfs. She married Gilbert Martens at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. He preceded her in death.
Marie graduated from school at Gladbrook. She worked as a homemaker, caring for her family and home. She was a member of Union Congregational United Church of Christ in Reinbeck.
Survived by: a daughter, Sandra (Cordell) Peterson of Reinbeck; grandchildren, Shellie (Shawn) Murphy and Chris (Kelly) Dinsdale, both of Reinbeck, and Noah (Erica) Martens and Dylan Neal, both of Grundy Center; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ruth Carlson of Marshalltown.
Preceded in death by: her parents; a daughter, Debra Neal; and a sister, Amy Hoing.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 9, at Amity Presbyterian Church in rural Tama County, with burial to follow the luncheon at 1 p.m. at Reinbeck Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. before services Monday at the church.

Marie enjoyed knitting, baking pies and was known for her lemon and raisin cream pies.
