HUMBOLDT, Iowa (AP) --- Two people are dead and three others, including two jail inmates, injured in a three-car accident near Humboldt in north-central Iowa.
The accident happened Friday evening on Iowa Highway 169.
The Iowa State Patrol says a southbound car driven by 75-year-old Jimmie Faltinson, of Rutland, was driving in the northbound lane, where it collided head-on with a car driven by 20-year-old Kathrine Kofoot, of Bode.
Faltinson and Kofoot died from their injuries.
The patrol says the third vehicle was a Webster County sheriff's vehicle was transporting two jail inmates. It struck the rear of Kofoot's car. The car was driven by Webster County jailer, 39-year-old Paul Keller, of Manson.
Keller and the inmates were taken to a Humboldt hospital for treatment.
