Recycling bins

WATERLOO — The city has canceled previously announced plans to relocate its recycling bins from Carpetland, 1234 Flammang Drive, to Goodwill Industries near Crossroads Center Mall.

Questions about the situation, which city officials said was beyond their control, may be directed to the Sanitation Department at (319) 291-4455.

CEDAR FALLS — City offices will be closed Nov. 23 and Friday for the Thanksgiving holiday. There will be no garbage collection on these days.

Residents having Thursday as their collection day should put their garbage out by 7 a.m. Nov. 21. Residents who have Friday as their collection day should put their garbage out by 7 a.m. Nov. 22.

There will be no large item pickup during that week because of the need for double route collection. Large item pickup will resume Nov. 27.

The Transfer Station will be open Nov. 25.

As a reminder to residents, yard waste pickup on Mondays, from December through the end of March 2018, will be done on a call-in basis.

School to host

holiday meal

WATERLOO — Lowell Elementary in partnership with First Wesleyan Church will sponsor a neighborhood Thanksgiving dinner from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.

The dinner is open to the community, and everyone is welcome.
