WATERLOO — Expo School will have its annual holiday meal at 11:45 a.m. Friday.
Student leaders from Expo’s Lighthouse Team organized a holiday choir that will perform during the meal. This event is building-wide, and Expo students have a lead in every aspect of the meal.
This event is not open to the general public. District administrators from the Education Service Center, Leader Valley, Partners in Education and a few select community partners to Expo are invited.
CEDAR FALLS — The Start Something Big Breakfast will be held Friday at the Hilton Garden Inn.
The event, from 7:30 to 9 a.m. is a Black Hawk County-wide fundraiser for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Iowa. It combines a meal, silent auction and an opportunity to meet youth served in the agency’s mentoring program. Attendees can see firsthand how the nonprofit is making a difference in these children’s lives.
University of Iowa Community Credit Union and MidWest One Bank are the premier sponsors for this event. Hilton Garden Inn will provide breakfast to those attending and many area businesses have donated items for the silent auction. These businesses include Cedar Valley Art & Wine, Black Hawk Hotel, Harley Davidson, Morg’s, Waterloo Community Playhouse and more.
Big Brothers Big Sisters provides mentoring relationships for all children who need and want them — contributing to brighter futures, better schools and stronger communities for all. The organization has been in operation in Northeast Iowa for more than 50 years. All proceeds raised at the Start Something Big Breakfast will support one-to-one mentoring of youth facing adversity in Black Hawk County.
