WATERLOO - Police have arrested a Waterloo man for allegedly stabbing his brother over the weekend.
Gary Robert Sumpter Jr., 41, of 522 Maynard Ave., was arrested Sunday for willful injury causing bodily injury, aggravated domestic assault and aggravated assault.
Paramedics with Waterloo Fire Rescue took his brother, Steve Marvets, to a local hospital.
According to court records, Marvets was sleeping in his basement bedroom at about 9:30 a.m. Sunday when Sumpter walked into the room, called Marvets a "traitor" and stabbed him with a knife.
Sumpter then calmly walked upstairs and left the house, records state. Officers found him behind a neighbor's house. He was taken to the Black Hawk County Jail, and bond was set at $25,000.
