WATERLOO — Services for a Waterloo police officer who was found dead in his home over the weekend will be conducted with full law enforcement honors, according to the police department.
Arrangements are pending, and contributions can be made to the Robert J. Greenlee III Memorial Fund at Veridian Credit Union.
Greenlee, 45, was found dead at his home Sunday. A cause of death hasn’t been determined, and no foul play is suspected.
Under the Hometown Heroes Survivors’ Benefit Act, officers who die of certain medical conditions within 24 hours of their last shift are considered duty-related deaths, according to the police department.
Greenlee last worked second shift Friday, according to the police chief.
The son of a police lieutenant, Greenlee joined the Waterloo Police Department in January 1994 while studying law enforcement at the University of Northern Iowa. He was promoted to sergeant in August 2005 and worked second-shift patrol.
