JESUP – Firefighters and paramedics from Jesup rescued a driver after his pickup truck slipped off Highway 20 and landed upside down on a frozen creek Wednesday morning.

Details weren’t immediately available, but the truck was heading westbound when it apparently left the roadway just west of the Jesup exit shortly after 7 a.m. Wednesday.

The truck overturned and landed on its roof, cracking the ice. The driver, the lone occupant of the vehicle, was trapped, and crews with Jesup Fire and Jesup Ambulance removed the door to free him, authorities said.

Jesup Police and Buchanan County sheriff’s deputies also responded to the accident.
