CEDAR FALLS --- The seventh annual Hearth Fest 2011 will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Aug. 28 at Gateway Park.
The music and art festival to raise money and food for the Northeast Iowa Food Bank has raised more than $11,400 and collected more than 1,100 pounds of food over the past six years.
Members of the Cedar Valley Acoustic Guitar Association and others will be playing, including Kimberly Anderson, Karen Rochford, The Atomic Fireballs, Uncle Chuck and the Imaginary Band, Karla Ruth, Sibling Revelry and The Enablers, with Raldo Schneider and Friends as the closing act.
Half Masted, a UNI improv troupe, will perform at 2 p.m.
An arts and crafts sale of work donated by local artists will also be held, as well as a fine arts silent auction. The haiku contest returns as well. Poetry entries will be accepted throughout the day with winners announced before the last music set.
There will be a poster art contest for children ages 4-7 and 8-12 for prizes. The contest runs from 2-5 p.m. with winners announced at 5:25 p.m. at the event. The festival is on a Sunday this year.
