Walt Rogers, as chair of the House Education Committee, has underfunded and undermined education in Iowa for 8 years. Dave Williams, former member of the Cedar Falls School Board, will finally support public education!
“will finally support public education”???
Clio, you understand government education spending is ever-increasing, right? And that the teachers union sees no end to the ways to spend money on government education, right? Despite less and less impressive results. I think Walt and Republicans have supported government education way more than they should have. We certainly don’t need someone else to go in there and throw even more taxpayer dollars at a broken and failing system!
If these are the issues that will come to light as a result of this campaign, then I can’t wait to see the public informed about what’s really going on in government education!
RJJ - that's incorrect. Actually Iowa is spending less, after inflation, on K-12 basic education funding than it did when Walt was first elected. And our regent's universities are getting less (without adjusting for inflation!) than they did 20 years ago. And this "broken and failing" narrative is also incorrect. NAEP scores (the best national measurement) have gone up steadily for years. The problem is, other nations are passing us. I guess you're OK with that.
Wait a minute! Dave Williams was a caucus leader for the *Republicans* just a couple years ago. Now he’s running for the legislature as a Democrat? And has lived next door to Walt for several years? This smells fishy...an orchestration of the Black hawk County pro-union, big-government Democrat machine???
