ALLISON, Iowa — A former teacher in the Aplington-Parkersburg School District changed her plea this week, admitting she engaged in sex acts with several students.

According to court records, Ashley Anderson, 24, of Ackley, accepted a deal with prosecutor Scott Brown, an assistant state’s attorney general, who was handling the case.

Anderson pleaded guilty in Butler County District Court to three counts of sexual exploitation by a school employee, a felony. As part of the agreement, the state dropped a fourth count.

Authorities charged Anderson in October. According to the Iowa Department of Public Safety, Anderson admitted engaging in sexual misconduct with four male students 16 to 18 years old at the time. She also allegedly sent nude photos of herself in text messages to the students.

The incidents happened during the 2011-12 school year.

Anderson was hired by Aplington-Parkersburg in 2010. She taught high school math, algebra, geometry and precalculus. She resigned last fall.

Sexual exploitation by a school employee is punishable by up to five years in prison. A sentencing hearing is scheduled June 17.
