ARLINGTON, Iowa --- Fayette County authorities are looking for a vehicle which ran a deputy's patrol car into a ditch.

At approximately 10:40 p.m. Monday a Fayette County deputy was on patrol southbound on Iowa Highway 187 just north of Iowa Highway 3 when an unidentified northbound vehicle crossed completely into the southbound lane.

The deputy was forced to take evasive action, ending up in the east ditch. The unidentified vehicle made a U turn and drove back past the patrol car in the ditch and continued back southbound.

The patrol car sustained $7,500 damage; the deputy was uninjured. The accident was investigated by the Iowa State Patrol.
