WATERLOO — An Expo High School student was expelled Monday by the Board of Education.
The board voted to expel the student for the remainder of the school year after meeting in closed session for about 50 minutes. Placement of the student after the expulsion will be determined by Waterloo Community Schools’ executive director of student and at-risk services.
Board member unanimously approved the expulsion. In attendance were Astor Williams, Lyle Schmitt, Jesse Knight, Rhonda McRina and Shanlee McNally, five of the board’s seven members.
The district does not release personal information about disciplined students such as name, age, grade or gender to maintain confidentiality.
The student was cited for violating the district’s conduct code. However, officials released no information on the nature of the offenses or the dates on which they happened.
